I really like this idea of a hole cut out in a rocket, so the kids can have a photo op:

I have a few simple game ideas for 3-year-olds to play:

° Space-themed coloring pages

° Story Time
Read the children a space story to set the mood or to cool things down…

° Photo Opportunity
Paint two appliance boxes — one with an astronaut and
one with a rocket. Cut a hole in each, for the party guests faces. Each guest took turns poking their faces through the holes for a fun photo. The pictures were mailed with “thank you” notes.

° Astronaut Jet Packs

° Astronaut name tags

° Confetti Popper Rockets

° Comet Toss: Cut off the legs from colored tights (can get at CO). Place a tennis ball/Nerf ball in the toe and tie off. Shred/cut ends. This is your comet. Use card board boxes and make holes in the boxes that the kids will toss their comets into.

° Comet Toss – Version 2 – http://familyfun.go.com/crafts/comet-toss-670084/

° stomp rockets – I really, really want to do these, but I depending on where we hold the party, we might not have the room.  I’m going to have to ponder on this one for a while.

° Cardboard rocket playhouse – I’ve given Carl the task of building a large rocket playhouse, using templates I found on the internet.  Luckily, he has access to very large boxes at his work!

I like this playhouse, too, but we're going to try to build the cardboard one to save on cost.

Rocket playhouse looks very neat!!! I can’t imagine Christian’s look on his face when he first sees it. Are you going to keep it hidden? He will pee his pants when he sees it. 😀

I KNOW!! And I was thinking maybe we can string some white lights through it, it would be awesome!!
